A million San Diegans learned CPR. Did more people survive?

Developing Confirmed

San Diego County and UC San Diego say more than 1 million people have now learned hands-only CPR, meeting a goal set in early 2024. The Revive & Survive campaign counted 1,011,034 trainees at 25,138 free events run by 49 partners. The harder number is survival. In county registry data for 2019 through 2023, about 9% of people whose hearts stopped outside a hospital survived, and about half received bystander CPR. Officials say nearly half got bystander CPR last year. Whether the training has raised survival has not yet been reported.

The wall: No post-launch survival data found; trainee count may include repeats and visitors
