Nov. 4, 2026 — Drone strikes on civilian infrastructure across Sudan over the past couple of weeks are disrupting electricity, water and fuel, the UN's resident and humanitarian coordinator there, Denise Brown, told UN News. At a hospital outside Khartoum with no generator, the power went out and 25 people lost their dialysis treatment, she said. Hundreds of aid trucks are stranded by fuel shortages, and markets and displacement sites have also been hit, UN News reported. Brown said the strikes appear to target civilian infrastructure, which international humanitarian law protects, and called that "an apparent violation."

How this newsfeed is produced
Stories are researched and drafted with AI under the Directed User Interface, from public records and official sources, and reviewed under the editorial standards below before release. Each item links the sources it rests on, labels what is confirmed and what is reported, and states what the record does not yet show.
Editorial standards
Primary sources first: an item is labeled Confirmed only when its key facts were read in the primary record; otherwise it is labeled Reported, with the source named.
The record's own words: charged is not found, a settlement is not a verdict, and settlement language is quoted as the agency wrote it.
Each party's side where the record has one. Private individuals are named only when the record names them and naming serves the reader.
Alerts: we report that an agency issued an alert and link the source; follow the proper authorities for current instructions.
No advertising or product placement in stories. We never cite ourselves as a source.
Our rules are informed by the SPJ Code of Ethics, the IFCN Code of Principles, the Verification Handbook, and ICD 203's analytic standards. These are self-imposed standards of ethics and excellence; no endorsement by these organizations is claimed or implied.
Corrections
When we get something wrong, or a story develops, we update it on the story itself, dated, saying what changed; the trail stays visible. To report an error, use the request form and say which story.
Links lead to publishers we don't control; pages may move or disappear. Every source is cited in full so it can always be found, and links open in a new tab so you keep your place here.
