More than 300,000 remain displaced in Lebanon, UN says

Developing Reported

Oct. 31, 2026 — More than 300,000 people displaced in Lebanon since early March remain displaced, the UN aid office OCHA said, calling the humanitarian crisis "far from over." Continued Israeli military activity and presence in the south make it very difficult for people to return, UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric said Friday, Oct. 30. Close to 970,000 people have returned to communities in the south, often to damaged homes and disrupted services, the UN said; in Nabatieh Governorate, restrictions on access to farmland are disrupting the olive harvest.
