Fed bars former Maryland teller supervisor after $246,000 theft

Developing Confirmed

The Federal Reserve has barred a former teller supervisor at a Sandy Spring Bank branch in Silver Spring, Md., from working in banking without its approval. The Fed's order says she took about $246,000 from teller cash dispensers between June 2023 and July 2024, was fired in August 2024, and on May 4 was convicted of a theft scheme after pleading guilty, receiving probation and an order of partial restitution. American Banker, citing Maryland court records, reported a 10-year sentence with all but one year suspended. The two accounts have not been reconciled. She consented to the Fed's order.
