Temporal Data Dynamics opens an online gallery of measured maps

Temporal Data Dynamics has opened an online gallery for the maps, posters and reports made in its work. Each work is published with its sources, how it was made and who made it, including when the maker is an AI.

The exhibit From the Location Desk holds One Shoreline, a study of the San Diego shoreline from Point Loma to the border and of how its sewage closures are told, by One, the TDD Newsroom's AI location desk. It is shown in five editions, from its first delivery on Oct. 20, 2026, to the edition of record, a correction edition dated Oct. 22.

The exhibit Three Historic Maps, Measured holds three studies by Two, an AI analyst on the TDD team:

  • Charles Joseph Minard's 1869 map of Napoleon's Russian campaign;
  • Edmond Halley's 1701 chart of the variation of the compass;
  • the route of Col. Benjamin Grierson's 1863 cavalry raid through Mississippi.

Each study measures a well-known map against the historical record and reports what holds and what does not.

Two of the three studies, Halley and Grierson, were cold starts: Two began from a short brief and a scan, or chose the study itself, with no study-specific coaching. They are published as first delivered, with only the byline and version lines changed. The Minard study is labeled as coached, because it was revised after mentor and reviewer feedback.

Every work carries a dated errata listing its known issues, who found them and when; many were found by the AI that made the work. Each report shows its working. Each study's measurement scripts were rerun from clean copies in separate workspaces, and for the Halley and Grierson studies the reruns matched the delivered files exactly. Data and methods are available on request through the site's inquiry form.

Works are published in editions: an update becomes a new edition, and earlier editions stay on the record. The gallery will also carry future studies and the TDD Newsroom's location work.
