WFP cuts food aid in Gaza by about a third, affecting some 500,000 people as winter nears

Developing Reported

Oct. 20, 2026 — Funding shortages have forced the World Food Programme to cut its food assistance in Gaza by roughly one third, affecting some 500,000 people as winter approaches, UN News reported. Haiti's gangs are adapting to security operations, UN tells Security Council, as elections stay on hold

Developing Reported

Oct. 20, 2026 — Armed groups in Haiti are adapting to intensified security operations, increasing reprisals against civilians and spreading violence into rural areas, the UN told the Security Council on Oct. 19, UN News reported. Between July and early October, 1,123 Haitians were killed and 440 injured in gang-related violence, the UN said. Presidential and legislative elections planned for Dec. 13 have been postponed indefinitely.
